 Seasonal to-do list / Fall ;

 

 - Rake leaves ( get rid of slug eggs and fungus that is hiding)

 
 - Cut back perennials / mulch tender ones
 
 - Plant shrubs and trees
 
 - Plant bulbs / Crocus, Daffodils, Tulips, Hyacinthus, garlic too if you want
 
 - Divide perennials / Daylily, Hosta, Poeny, (good time for most of them)
 
 - Lawn care / fertilize, kill moss, thatch, and over seed
 
 - Slug bait
 
 - Weed and mulch;    Replant containers (color spots) Kale, Pansies, Mums, Asters, bulbs too
 
 - Plant groundcover(also any place with a steep grade change/ hard to water in summer
   
 - Prune fruit trees and evergreens 

Spring ;

 

 - Weed/ mulch or bark for weeds 

 

 - Fert. Shrubs after bloom

 

 - Cleanup perrenials

 

 - Plant summer bulbs; dahlias,ect.

 

 - Seed garden with cold crops; Peas,brocolli,brussel sprouts, cauliflower, lettuce, spinach, radish, onions and potatos

 

 - Buy and plant bare root fruit trees and roses

 

 - Take care of lawn/fertilize/kill moss/thatch and overseed/mow

 

 - Prune roses and hydrangeas; hedges

 

 - Bait for slugs

 

 - Plant new shrubs and perrenials

 

 - Fertilize house plants

Summer;

 

 - Keep lawn mowed/ raise blade hieght and use mulching bag(cut only one third of the leaf blade at any one time)

 

 - Fertilize lawn with slow release organic type

 

 - Plant annuals

 

 - Plant warm crops/ Tomatoes;peppers; beans; squash

 

 - Keep up with weeds

 

 - Pick flowers

 

 - Clean ponds and fountains

 

 - Do building projects/ decks, walkways, retaining walls, drainage systems

 

 - Water lawn weekly one inch / less for flower beds

 

 - Watch for bugs and spray if you see damage with insectacidal soap

 

 - Use castings from worm bin

 

 - Make compost tea  

 Each season brings us different things to see, smell, and eat. Working in your raised vegy bed or containers brings rewards if we think ahead. Worm bins, composting, setting up rain barrels for summer is a big pay off later.
